Shame, Silence & Creating a Voice

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar

And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's going on?

This fall I am offering a 10 week intensive psychotherapy group program for those individuals seeking a comprehensive approach to treatment and understanding of their eating disorder symptoms and patterns. During this seventh meeting, we discuss how more has been experienced in the group than what is left to be experienced as a group. The introduction of ending and separating will likely bring reactions to the surface while at the same time a need to understand the feelings associated with loss and departure. These can be difficult subjects to put into words and often the feeling of shame and embarrassment silence these experiences. The purpose of this group will be to practice putting thought and feeling into words while attempting to contain urges and impulses with the body. If you are interested in joining one of The Hunger on My Bones Intensive Therapy Groups, please complete an inquiry form and I will be in touch with you.
