Dreaming, Dreams & Meaning
Gabrielle Munter, Stenographie, Suissesse en pyjama, 1929
Every night, our minds embark on fascinating journeys that we often overlook—the world of dreams. Dreams act as gateways to our innermost selves, potentially offering guidance, insight, and support as we navigate the complexities of human experiences. "Writing from the Inside Out" is a creative writing workshop that uses poetry prompts to help us explore these meanings more deeply. This workshop will focus on dreams and their relationship to our lives, integrating poetry, writing, and group engagement to explore the meaning of our dreams. Each workshop will be structured to allow time for writing, active imagination exercises to access dream material, and dream incubation—a technique aimed at focusing on how our dreams can assist us. Additionally, there will be opportunities for group collaboration to help participants explore their dreams in greater depth. This will be a fresh and immersive experience that requires no prior writing or dream analysis background. The workshops seek to cultivate a connection between one's waking life and dream experiences through creative writing and group interaction. While this writing group may have therapeutic value, it is not intended to be a therapy group. If you are interested in participating, please email me through the workshop page to arrange a time to discuss any questions you may have.
What is a dream Bar?
Whenever I have a sweet tooth, I bake dream bars. If I'm invited to a dinner party, I bring dream bars as a gift for the host or hostess. When I'm throwing a party, I usually make dream bars as well. Every occasion seems perfect for this delicious dessert, which I discovered in 2010 at the Hollyhock Retreat Center in British Columbia while attending Gabor Maté's early workshops on his book, "In the Realm of the Hungry Ghosts." This experience left me with a strong desire to learn more about healing from the inside out and a newfound appreciation for cooking and baking from garden to table, as demonstrated at Hollyhock. Here is the anticipated recipe for you to enjoy!
