Psychotherapy for Clients
Helping you flourish from the inside out.
With a personalized approach, rooted in genuine connection and experience, my psychotherapy services offer guidance, support and motivation tailored to your unique needs and aspirations.
I am Angela Wurtzel, and I am thrilled to welcome you to a space where individual, group, couples and family psychotherapy can help you.
I am deeply committed to the therapy relationships I have had over the past 30 years in my private practice. As a result, I have seen many individuals overcome eating disorders, manage mood and anxiety disorders, and interrupt repetitive behaviors that negatively affected their lives. I help my clients develop the tools and confidence they need to face life's challenges and grow into their most fulfilled selves.
Understanding Modern Psychoanalysis
Have you ever wondered why certain feelings of emotional distress seem to persist or surface unexpectedly? My approach, Modern Psychoanalysis, is a collaborative journey to help you gently uncover and work through unconscious patterns in a supportive, welcoming environment. Together, we foster honest conversation and self-reflection, expanding on traditional psychoanalytic practices to address the core of your difficulties. This process gives you space to build self-awareness and learn healthier ways to manage stress and relationships—ultimately helping you feel stronger and more emotionally balanced.

Treatment Options
I offer a variety of virtual psychotherapy treatment options based on your unique needs. Through individual, group, family or couples psychotherapy, we work together to encourage your lasting growth.
-
We will work together to understand your personal story and identify the changes you envision for your life so that you can feel more at ease and engaged. We'll discuss your history, your current situation, and your aspirations for the future. The ultimate goal is to help you develop emotionally so that you can communicate effectively and make meaningful changes in your behavior. Individual therapy is a process that requires attention, active listening, and commitment. I will provide guidance and ask questions to help you.
-
Group therapy offers perspectives, support, and relationships different from those in the outside world. It becomes an incubator where you engage with others while being seen and cared for. It also gives you a chance to contribute to other group members. One of the most important aspects is knowing you can both give and receive.
I have seen how powerful group therapy can be. It uses the group’s dynamic to help people become more aware and open to change. Group members often share insights that differ from the therapist’s, which helps everyone, including the therapist, better understand.
Because of this belief, I have learned a great deal from leading various kinds of groups.
Leading different groups has shown me the importance of progressive communication. These experiences have helped me reflect on my strengths and areas for growth as a leader. I value group work because it complements individual therapy and helps people explore and grow together.
-
In family therapy, one member’s struggles can impact the entire family. I ensure all perspectives are expressed and acknowledged, address communication barriers, and help families manage transitions such as birth, death, job loss, and grief. I also support families facing mental health concerns, including eating disorders, compulsive spending, and self-injury.
We will work together to navigate key moments and make adjustments that strengthen the family while encouraging individual growth. This process often leads to better communication, deeper emotional understanding, and more effective problem-solving.
-
In couples therapy, I help partners address challenges, navigate life transitions, and overcome periods of stagnation. Together, we explore new ways to connect and strengthen your relationship. You will gain insight into how past relationships and family dynamics shape your connection, and how resolving them can support more effective communication and healthier patterns.
Eating
Disorders
Eating disorders often act as shields, protecting us from overwhelming emotions. To truly more forward, nurturing the mind on intellectual, emotional, and psychological levels is vital. I’ll guide you toward disrupting these patterns by exploring the unique and complex challenges involved in both creating and overcoming eating disorders.
Areas of Expertise
Cosmetic Surgery, Self-Injury
& Compulsive Shopping
Body modification often reveals hidden stories about who we wish to become, or what we long to experience beyond our natural form. When working with those individuals drawn to repeated cosmetic surgery, self-injury or compulsive shopping, I aim to uncover the unique and complex motivations that fuel these choices, leading to lasting change and healthier patterns of behavior.
Prenatal & Postpartum Experience
The perinatal experience is the foundation for family development. I provide expert, compassionate assessment and care for perinatal mental health concerns, supporting individuals and families at every stage of the perinatal period, tailoring my support to their needs, helping to create the foundations for bonding and family growth.
*I want to emphasize that, while I have specific areas of expertise, my practice is open to individuals who wish to examine challenges that may not be explicitly outlined in my specialties. I extend a warm welcome to you, always.
