Feast, Famine & Fears

"Well darkness has a hunger that's insatiable
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear
I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety 'til I sank it
I'm crawling on your shores"

- Indigo Girls, "Closer I am to Fine"

This fall I am offering a 10 week intensive psychotherapy group program for those individuals seeking a comprehensive approach to treatment and understanding of their eating disorder symptoms and patterns. In week three, we move forward psychodynamically and relationally to address feast, famine and fears and how these experiences are felt in the body and expressed through the symptom of an eating disorder. Each person in the group has his or her own story that may yet to be told with words and the weekly process of talking with one another provides a unique opportunity to learn, comprehend and be provoked into knowing more about oneself.  Symptoms of an eating disorder reveal some information about the self and if they are examined dynamically more can be revealed that has yet to be discovered. The exposed information can lead to a sustained sense of relief and recovery. Focusing on the feast, the famine and the underlying fears will bring forth yearnings that may be feeding an eating disorder. Without this investigation, repetitious cycles stay in place for they continue to serve a purpose. With precision, time and effort, this group will offer you a unique therapy experience for understanding and treating your eating disorder. For more information regarding this group and how to join, please complete an inquiry form and I will be in touch with you.
